Cantium are delighted to have been shortlisted for the ‘Alternative Service Delivery Model of the Year’ award at the Public Finance Awards 2020!
This category is for an individual or team that has responded to financial challenges by developing alternative models of service delivery and creating a dynamic culture, whilst effectively managing risk.
In July 2017, Kent County Council (KCC) commissioned a project to establish a Local Authority Trading Company (LATCo) from its existing internal business unit, with the aim of reducing costs and enhancing service levels. This LATCo launched in July 2018 as Cantium Business Solutions, providing back office solutions for HR, Finance and IT to both KCC and external customers.
As part of the transformation of the internal business function into a commercially trading business, Cantium’s senior leadership team formed a commercial team to establish robust processes and controls that have led to the development of a strong pipeline of new business opportunities. The leadership and commercial teams developed a recognisable new brand, Cantium Business Solutions, and aligned this to the existing traded services. This new brand included a set of four brand pillars to underpin how we work: Fast, Connected, Insight-driven and Customer-led.
Since then, Cantium have developed a people strategy to focus on attracting and retaining a high calibre of professional, supported by a reward strategy to promote a culture of empowering our staff to contribute to commercial growth and deliver customer excellence.
Cantium continues to engage with customers, interpret sector challenges and provide innovative solutions. We are committed to continual investment in our people and technology, whilst improving our operating processes and procedures. We are proud to have attained ISO 27001, 9001 and 14001 accreditations, and our 250 IT engineers are all accredited in ITIL.
We have a plan of activity to deliver continuous improvement, including the implementation of Robotic Process Automation, Customer Portal and improved Debt Recovery reporting, which will create further efficiencies for customers.
This focus on insight and customer-led improvement will help to solidify Cantium’s place as a vital utility for organisations in all sectors.
Being shortlisted for this award means the independent panel believe that Cantium have demonstrated innovative approaches that unlock commercial opportunities and utilise effective financial planning and leadership, that potentially make savings and deliver outcome focused services.
With the awards highlighting how inspiration, innovation, and talent has pushed the public finance and governance sectors forward, it’s fantastic to be recognised as an organisation making a key contribution in these fields.
The winners will be announced on 23rd April 2020 at Grosvenor House, London. You can find out more about the awards and the full shortlist here: https://publicfinanceawards.co.uk/
